Helen and Chris were married a mere stones throw from Chris’ family home. When Helen first contacted me all I knew was that it would be in a field and there would be a marquee – it is a testament to their creativity and commitment that they pulled off such a personal, relaxed and beautiful day of celebration with family and friends. Whilst the key elements of their wedding were firmly traditional the details and personal touches were anything but and it is this attention to detail that truly made Helen and Chris’s day a delight to photograph.
After a brief ceremony in St George’s Church the bride and groom took to a striking red tandem bicycle decorated tastefully with an overflowing basket of wild flowers and ribbon as well as the traditional ‘Just Married’ sign and string of tin cans trailing behind. Helen seemed as at home cycling in a veil, wedding dress and stunning gold heels as anyone I’ve ever seen in full Lycra! For honeymoon the couple will be embarking in a tandem mini-tour so certainly begun as they meant to go on.
A short distance down the road (or through the fields if you chose the scenic route) the wedding guests found themselves at Chris’ family home behind which was situated the Marquee. Chris and Helen’s theme was ‘Beer and Bicycles’ and it was within the marquee that this concept really came to fruition. From the bike wheel table planner, with cards stuck in the spokes to the supply of on tap craft craft beers every element seeped of relaxed, bohemian and shared celebration. Helen and Chris had no top table choosing instead to sit within the rows of tables amongst their guests, friends and family all pitched in carrying supplies up and down from the main house and children played in the rolling green fields that surrounded.
